Myfyriwr wedi'i recriwtio gan Read ar ôl llwyddiant profiad gwaith

Mae Brody White wedi cael ei recriwtio gan Read Construction fel rheolwr safle dan hyfforddiant ar ôl creu argraff tra ar brofiad gwaith wrth astudio yng Ngholeg Menai.

Bu’r gŵr ifanc 18 oed yn gweithio gyda Read ar gampws newydd £20m y coleg ym Mangor yr haf hwn fel rhan o’i gwrs BTEC Lefel 3 mewn Adeiladu a’r Amgylchedd Adeiledig.

Mae bellach wedi cael ei gyflogi gan y cwmni o ogledd Cymru, a dywedodd fod y sgiliau a ddysgodd yng Ngholeg Menai wedi ei helpu i osod sylfeini ar gyfer gyrfa yn y maes adeiladu.

Meddai Brody: “Rydw i wedi meithrin llawer o sgiliau allweddol yn ystod fy amser yn y coleg yn astudio adeiladu a fydd yn fy helpu i ddatblygu fy uchelgais o ddod yn rheolwr safle yn y pen draw.

“Rwy’n wrth fy modd i fod yn rhan o Read Construction fel rheolwr safle dan hyfforddiant a chredaf fod hwn yn gyfle gwych i mi ddatblygu yn y diwydiant adeiladu a datblygu fy sgiliau ymhellach.”

Creodd Brody, o Landegfan ar Ynys Môn, argraff ar benaethiaid Read pan oedd ar leoliad profiad gwaith, wrth iddo ymgymryd â thasgau’n cynnwys mynychu cyfarfodydd rheoli, adolygu cynlluniau, a chynnal sganiau CAT, arolygon a gwiriadau diogelwch.

Dywedodd rheolwr y prosiect, Eilir Jones: “Mae wedi bod yn wych croesawu Brody yn ôl i’r safle fel aelod o dîm Read.

The 18-year-old worked with Read on the college’s new £20m Bangor campus this summer as part of his Level 3 BTEC in Construction and the Built Environment.

He has now been taken on by the North Wales-based company, and said the skills he learned at Coleg Menai have helped him as he lays down the foundations for a career in construction.

Brody said: "I believe I have gained many key skills from my time at college studying construction which helped grow my ambitions of eventually becoming a site manager.

“I am very excited to be a part of Read Construction as a trainee site manager and I believe this is a great opportunity for myself to grow in the construction industry and develop my skills further."

Brody, from Llandegfan on Anglesey, impressed Read bosses on his work experience placement, with his tasks including attending management meetings, reviewing plans, and carrying out CAT scans, surveys and safety checks.

Project manager Eilir Jones said: “It has been fantastic to welcome Brody back to site as a member of the Read team.

“Tra ar leoliad, dangosodd Brody frwdfrydedd mawr i ddysgu, ac mae’n parhau i ddangos yr un awydd fel rheolwr safle dan hyfforddiant. Rydyn ni'n edrych ymlaen at weld Brody yn datblygu dros gyfnod cynllun Tŷ Menai a phrosiectau eraill Read yn y dyfodol.”

Meddai Claire Taylor, arweinydd y rhaglen Adeiladu a’r Amgylchedd Adeiledig Lefel 3: "Rydyn ni'n gweithio gyda chyflogwyr lleol i helpu i ddarparu cyfleoedd profiad gwaith perthnasol i'n dysgwyr, ac mae hyn yn ei dro yn eu helpu i ddewis llwybr gyrfa.

"Mae cwrs Lefel 3 BTEC ym maes Adeiladu a’r Amgylchedd Adeiledig yn sylfaen ragorol ar gyfer gyrfaoedd amrywiol fel syrfewyr meintiau, penseiri, peirianwyr sifil, rheolwyr safle, swyddogion iechyd a diogelwch, prynwyr, syrfewyr adeiladu, peirianwyr gwasanaethau adeiladu, swyddogion rheoli adeiladu, cynllunwyr, technegwyr CAD, rheolwyr prosiect ac ati, i enwi dim ond ychydig.

"Mae ein dysgwyr yn cael cefnogaeth i symud ymlaen ar hyd y llwybr gyrfa maen nhw'n ei ddewis, pa un ai yw hynny'n golygu addysg uwch, prentisiaeth uwch neu gyflogaeth."

Mae Read yn ymgymryd â gwaith ar gampws Tŷ Menai newydd y coleg ym Mharc Menai, Bangor, ar hyn o bryd lle disgwylir i’r addysgu ddechrau o fis Medi 2024.

“Whilst on placement, Brody showed great enthusiasm to learn, and he continues to show that same eagerness as a trainee site manager. We are looking forward to seeing Brody develop over the course of the Tŷ Menai scheme and future projects at Read.”

Claire Taylor, programme leader for Level 3 Construction & the Built Environment, said: “We work with local employers to help provide relevant work experience opportunities for our learners, which in turn helps them to secure their chosen career paths.

“The Level 3 BTEC Construction and the Built Environment course provides an excellent basis for a range of career options such as quantity surveyors, architects, civil engineers, site managers, health and safety officers, buyers, building surveyors, building services engineers, building control officers, planners, CAD technicians, project managers etc, to name a few.

“Our learners are supported to progress with their chosen career paths, whether this means that the next step after Level 3 is higher education, employment or onto higher apprenticeships.”

Read are carrying out the work on the college’s new Tŷ Menai campus in Parc Menai, Bangor, where teaching is due to start from September 2024.

The new campus, backed with £14m from the Welsh Government’s Sustainable Communities for Learning Programme, will relocate Coleg Menai’s current provision from the Ffriddoedd Road and Friars sites in Bangor. You can find more information about the ongoing transformation here.
