Galw mawr am Fyfyrwyr Peirianneg Forol
Mae'r adran Peirianneg Forol yng Ngholeg Llandrillo wedi ffurfio partneriaeth gydag un o'r enwau mwyaf yn y diwydiant llongau pleser rhyngwladol.
Bydd y coleg a'r Grwp Travelopia - dau bwerdy addysg a diwydiant - yn rhannu eu hadnoddau i helpu recriwtio peirianwyr talentog i fod yn dechnegwyr ar longau pleser ym Môr y Canoldir a Môr y Caribî.
Mae'r grŵp Travelopia yn cynrychioli dau o'r enwau mwyaf yn y diwydiant llongau pleser rhyngwladol: Sunsail a The Moorings. Travelopia yw un o gwmnïau siarter mwyaf y byd gyda chanolfannau o gwmpas y byd. Mae ganddynt lynges o dros 600 o longau sy'n cynnwys llongau ungragen, catamaráns a chatamaráns pŵer.
Crëwyd argraff ar arbenigwr recriwtio Travelopia Group Sophie Hygate gan yr ystod o sgiliau a gynigir gan adran Peirianneg Forol y coleg. Meddai: "Mae cynnal a chadw ein llongau mewn cyflwr da'n flaenoriaeth, felly mae ein technegwyr yn rhan hanfodol o'n tîm. Mae'r cyrsiau technegol a gynigir yng Ngholeg Llandrillo yn gweddu i'r dim ar gyfer yr hyn rydym yn chwilio amdano o ran hyfforddiant i'n technegwyr.
"Edrychaf ymlaen at ymweld â'r coleg i gyfweld ymgeiswyr ar gyfer swyddi technegwyr morol yng Ngwlad Groeg a Croatia'r tymor nesaf."
Ychwanegodd Andy White, Cydlynydd y cyrsiau Morol yng Ngholeg Llandrillo: "Ar hyn o bryd, mae mwyafrif ein dysgwyr yn mynd ymlaen i'r llynges fasnachol neu'r sectorau ynni alltraeth, felly mae'n gyffrous i sefydlu llwybr i'r sector siarter a llynges fach. Gan fy mod wedi gweithio i'r sector hwn o'r diwydiant o'r blaen, rydw i'n gwybod y gall gynnig heriau cyffrous a chyfleoedd gwych i deithio." Mae hwn yn gyfle gwych i'n dysgwyr.
"Sunsail efallai yw'r darparwr gwyliau hwylio mwyaf ac maent yn cynnig i'w staff ddatblygiad a dilyniant parhaus. Gall myfyrwyr newydd gael eu cyflogi i weithio dros yr haf yng Ngwlad Groeg neu Croatia cyn dychwelyd i gwblhau eu cymwysterau Lefel 2 a 3, ac ar gyfer myfyrwyr sy'n parhau mae swyddi mwy parhaol a lleoliadau eraill ar gael."
The college and the Travelopia Group - two powerhouses of education and industry - will pool their resources to help recruit talented engineers to work as yacht technicians, specifically on the Mediterranean and Caribbean seas.
The Travelopia Group represents two of the biggest names in the international yacht chartering Industry: Sunsail and The Moorings. The group is one of the world’s largest charter companies with bases all over the world. They have a fleet of over 600 vessels, made up of monohulls, catamarans and power catamarans.
Travelopia Group’s recruitment specialist Sophie Hygate was impressed with the range of skills offered by the college’s Marine Engineering department. She said: “The maintenance of our yachts is one of our top priorities, so our technicians form a vital part of our team. The courses look like they could be a great technical fit for what we look for in training our technicians.
“I look forward to visiting the college to interview candidates for marine technician positions to work in Greece and Croatia next season.”
Andy White, coordinator of Marine Engineering training programmes at the college, added: “Currently, most of our learners progress into the merchant navy or the offshore energy sectors, so it is exciting to establish a route into the charter and flotilla sector. Having worked in this part of the industry, I know that it can be fun and challenging, with fantastic opportunities to travel. This is a fantastic opportunity for our learners.
“Sunsail is perhaps the biggest yachting holiday provider and they offer their staff excellent ongoing development and progression. New students can get paid work in Greece or Croatia over the summer months between the college’s Level 2 and Level 3 courses, and for continuing students, more permanent roles and other locations are available.”
There are limited places available for funded courses at Colleg Llandrillo starting in September/October 2022. To find out more, prospective students should email marine@gllm.ac.uk
