Buddsoddiad gwerth £13 miliwn gan Grŵp Llandrillo Menai ym Mangor
Mae cynlluniau gan Grŵp Llandrillo Menai i symud ei gampws ym Mangor i Barc Menai wedi cael eu cymeradwyo gan Penderfyniadau Cynllunio ac Amgylchedd Cymru. Bydd y prosiect i foderneiddio'r cyfleusterau dysgu a hyfforddi sydd ar gael yn lleol i bobl ifanc yn cael ei ariannu ar y cyd gan Lywodraeth Cymru a Grŵp Llandrillo Menai a bydd yn costio oddeutu £13 miliwn.
Bwriad y Grŵp yw symud darpariaeth bresennol Coleg Menai o Ffordd Ffriddoedd a safle Friars i adeilad eiconaidd Tŷ Menai ym Mharc Menai, sydd wedi bod yn wag i raddau helaeth yn ystod y blynyddoedd diwethaf.
Bydd hyn yn creu cyfleusterau arloesol i fyfyrwyr ym Mharc Menai fydd yn cynnwys y dechnoleg ddiweddaraf, yn ogystal â chryfhau cysylltiadau rhwng addysg bellach a darpar gyflogwyr.Un o brif nodweddion datblygiad Tŷ Menai fydd cyfuno darpariaeth diwydiannau creadigol y Grŵp mewn Canolfan Ragoriaeth, gyda chyrsiau'n amrywio o gelfyddydau perfformio a thechnoleg cerddoriaeth i ddylunio gemau a chynhyrchu rhaglenni teledu i gyd ar gael ar yr un safle.
Bydd y Campws hefyd yn cynnig cyfleusterau hyfforddi modern ar gyfer sectorau blaenoriaeth eraill a nodwyd gan Lywodraeth Cymru a Phartneriaeth Sgiliau Rhanbarthol Gogledd Cymru, gan gynnwys lletygarwch ac arlwyo a dysgu gydol oes.
Mae'r Grŵp eisoes wedi creu canolfan yn adeilad cyfagos Llwyn Brain ar gyfer darpariaeth Busnes@LlandrilloMenai, sy'n cynnwys darparu prentisiaethau, cyrsiau proffesiynol a rhaglenni seiliedig ar waith.
Meddai Dafydd Evans, Prif Weithredwr Grŵp Llandrillo Menai: "Rydym wedi sylweddoli ers tro nad yw safle Ffriddoedd bellach yn addas a bod pobl ifanc Gwynedd yn haeddu gwell. Gan fod Tŷ Menai wedi'i leoli yng nghanol busnesau, dyma gyfle perffaith ar gyfer rhagor o weithio mewn partneriaeth â diwydiant. Bydd hyn yn ein helpu i sicrhau bod y cyfleoedd dysgu a hyfforddi a gynigir i bobl ifanc yn bodloni gofynion sgiliau cyflogwyr lleol."
Ychwanegodd Pennaeth Coleg Menai, Aled Jones-Griffith, "Drwy ddod ag addysg a busnes at ei gilydd, credwn y bydd y datblygiad hwn hefyd yn gatalydd ar gyfer ail-greu Parc Menai yn gyrchfan ddeniadol i gwmnïau newydd.
"Ond yn bwysicaf oll, bydd yn rhoi mynediad i'r bobl ifanc sy'n dod i Goleg Menai i gyfleusterau addysgol o ansawdd uchel a ystyrir y gorau yn y sector."

The Grŵp is proposing to move Coleg Menai's existing provision from the Ffriddoedd Road and Friars site to the iconic Tŷ Menai building on Parc Menai, which has stood largely empty in recent years.
This will see the creation of cutting-edge, hi-tech facilities for students at Tŷ Menai, as well as strengthened links between further education and future employers.
A major feature of the Tŷ Menai development would be the consolidation of the Grŵp’s creative industries provision into a Centre of Excellence, with courses ranging from performing arts and music technology to games design and TV production all available on the same site.
The Campus would also house modern training facilities for other priority sectors identified by the Welsh Government and North Wales Regional Skills Partnership, including hospitality and catering and lifelong learning.
The Grŵp has already moved into the adjacent Llwyn Brain building as a hub for the Busnes@LlandrilloMenai provision, including the delivery of apprenticeships, professional and work based programmes.
Grŵp Llandrillo Menai Chief Executive, Dafydd Evans, said: "We have long identified that the Ffriddoedd site has come to the end of its useful life and that the young people of Gwynedd deserve better. Given that Tŷ Menai is positioned alongside businesses, it is perfectly located for greater partnership working with industry. This will help us to ensure that the learning and training opportunities offered to young people meet the skills requirements of local employers.
Coleg Menai Principal Aled Jones-Griffith added, "By aligning education with business, we believe that this development would also be a catalyst to reignite Parc Menai as an attractive destination for new companies.
"But most importantly, it would give the young people coming to Coleg Menai access to the high quality sector leading educational facilities."
