Myfyriwr peirianneg yn ennill prentisiaeth gyda Rehau

Mae Sion Jones wedi ennill prentisiaeth gyda Rehau ar ôl cwblhau ei ddiploma BTEC Lefel 3 mewn Peirianneg Uwch yng Ngholeg Meirion-Dwyfor.

Mae Sion, sy'n 18 oed, wedi cael ei recriwtio gan Rehau ym Mlaenau Ffestiniog fel prentis peirianneg drydanol yn dilyn cwblhau ei gwrs dwy flynedd ar gampws Hafan ym Mhwllheli. Fel rhan o'i gwrs, gwnaeth hefyd gwblhau cymhwyster Gwneud Gwaith Peirianneg City and Guilds yn ogystal â 150 awr o brofiad gwaith.

Ochr yn ochr â gweithio i Rehau, bydd Sion yn parhau â’i astudiaethau gyda Grŵp Llandrillo Menai. O fis Medi ymlaen bydd yn dilyn cwrs BTEC Lefel 3 mewn Peirianneg Drydanol ar gampws Coleg Menai yn Llangefni i ddatblygu ei set sgiliau ymhellach.

Wrth i ganlyniadau TGAU gael eu cyhoeddi'r wythnos hon, bydd llawer o bobl yn ystyried eu hopsiynau ar gyfer eu cam nesaf. Dywedodd Sion fod ei brofiad yng Ngholeg Meirion-Dwyfor wedi rhoi sylfaen ddelfrydol iddo ar gyfer gyrfa gyffrous mewn peirianneg.

“Mae’r cwrs BTEC Lefel 3 uwch wedi fy mharatoi’n dda ar gyfer dyfodol disglair ym myd peirianneg,” meddai Sion, o Chwilog, a dderbyniodd bum cynnig o gyflogaeth wrth iddo agosáu at ddiwedd ei gwrs.

“Rydw i wedi bod yn ddigon ffodus i allu gweithio i Rehau fel prentis trydanol ac wedi dysgu llawer o bethau hyd yn hyn a byddaf yn parhau i wneud hynny yn y dyfodol.

Sion, 18, has been recruited by Rehau in Blaenau Ffestiniog as an electrical engineering apprentice following his two-year course at the Hafan campus in Pwllheli. As part of his course, he also completed the City and Guilds Performing Engineering Operations as well as 150 hours of work experience.

Alongside his work with Rehau, Sion will continue his studies with Grŵp Llandrillo Menai. From September, he will be following a Level 3 BTEC in Electrical Engineering at Coleg Menai’s Llangefni campus to further enhance his skill set.

With GCSE results out this week, many people will be considering options for their next step. Sion said his experience at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor has given him an ideal foundation for an exciting career in engineering.

“The BTEC Level 3 Enhance course has prepared me well for a bright future in the world of engineering,” said Sion, from Chwilog, who received five offers of employment as he neared the end of his course.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to work for Rehau as an electrical apprentice. I’ve learned many things from being here so far and will continue to do so in the future.

“Mae’r brentisiaeth hon yn lleoliad dwy flynedd a fydd yn rhoi cyfle i mi gwblhau unedau BTEC Lefel 3 craidd mewn peirianneg drydanol yn ogystal â diploma Lefel 3 mewn unedau technegol aml-sgiliau crefft arbenigol. Rydw i’n gyffrous iawn i ddechrau ym mis Medi.”

Dywedodd Emlyn Evans, Darlithydd Peirianneg yng Ngholeg Meirion-Dwyfor a arferai weithio i Rehau Ltd: “Ar ôl cwblhau ei astudiaethau peirianneg ar gampws Hafan ym Mhwllheli, mae gan Sion gyfle gwych i ddatblygu ei set sgiliau ymhellach gyda phrentisiaeth nodedig yn Rehau Ltd.

“Rydw i'n dymuno’r gorau i Sion yn y dyfodol gan y bydd y cyfleoedd gyda Rehau Ltd yn ddiddiwedd. Bydd Sion yn parhau â’i addysg o fewn Grŵp Llandrillo Menai fel rhan o’i ddatblygiad. Mae holl staff yr adran Beirianneg yn dymuno’r gorau iddo gyda’i astudiaethau a’i yrfa yn y dyfodol.”

Mae myfyrwyr wedi symud ymlaen o gampysau peirianneg Hafan a CaMDA i sawl cyfeiriad. Mae rhai wedi mynd i'r brifysgol i arbenigo mewn chwaraeon moduro, disgyblaethau sifil a mecanyddol, tra bod eraill wedi cael cyflogaeth llawn amser mewn garejys lleol, y sector ynni adnewyddadwy neu drwy brentisiaethau gyda chwmnïau enwog fel Rehau, Rolls Royce Aero Engines a Ryanair.
