Myfyriwr Celf Coleg yn Rhagori yn Rownd Derfynol Eisteddfod Genedlaethol yr Urdd

Mae myfyriwr Celf a Dylunio o Goleg Llandrillo a ragorodd yng nghystadlaethau sirol yr Urdd, wedi taro'r aur yn rownd derfynol Cymru gyfan.

Enillodd Kayley Owen 18 oed o Lanrwst - sydd yn astudio ar y cwrs Celf a Dylunio Diploma Estynedig Lefel 3 ar gampws Llandrillo-yn-Rhos y coleg - yr aur yn y categori "Gemwaith" yn y rowndiau terfynol cenedlaethol.

Mae'r aur cenedlaethol yn ychwanegol i'w llwyddiant arbennig yng gystadlaethau’r sir, lle cafodd y lle cyntaf mewn pum categori: Gwaith Creadigol 2D; Ffotograffau wedi'u Haddasu, Ffotograffau Du a Gwyn; Argraffu, a Gemwaith.

Dywedodd Kayley: "Ar ôl fy ngwaith caled, rydw i'n falch iawn o'm llwyddiant." Mae'r cwrs yn wych, yn enwedig yr agweddau ymarferol, ac rwy'n hoffi gweithio efo cyfryngau cymysg orau. Pan ddaw'r cwrs i ben, mi fyddaf yn aros yng Ngholeg Llandrillo i ddilyn y cwrs Gradd Sylfaen mewn Celf a Dylunio cyn mynd i brifysgol."

Dywedodd Liz Prosser - Dirprwy Reolwr y Maes Rhaglen Cyfrifiadura a'r Diwydiannau Creadigol: "Mae Kayley wedi gwneud yn wych. Enillodd yr hawl i arddangos ei sgiliau ar lefel genedlaethol wedi perfformiad arbennig ar lefel sirol. "

Mae'r rhaglen Diploma Estynedig Lefel 3 mewn Celf a Dylunio yn rhoi i chi'r sgiliau a'r arbenigedd sy'n angenrheidiol i fynd ymlaen i Addysg Uwch. Mae'r rhaglen yn addas i rai sydd wedi astudio cwrs Lefel 2 perthnasol neu wedi ennill graddau TGAU addas.

18-year-old Kayley Owen from Llanrwst – who is studying on the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art & Design course at the college’s Rhos-on-Sea campus – won the gold in the ‘Jewellery’ category at the national finals.

The national gold is in addition to her extraordinary showing at the county competitions, where she was awarded first place in five categories: Creative 2D Work; Modified Photographs; Black & White Photographs; Print-making, and Jewellery Making.

Kayley said: “I am really proud of my achievements as I have worked really hard. The course is fantastic, especially the practical aspects, and my favourite medium is mixed media. After the course finishes, I will be staying on at Coleg Llandrillo to study for a Foundation Degree in Art & Design before going onto university.”

Liz Prosser, deputy manager - Computing & Creative Industries, said: “Kayley has done brilliantly. She earned the right to showcase her skills at a national level after a stunning performance at county level.”

The Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art & Design programme provides students with the necessary expertise and skills to enter higher education. The programme is suitable for those progressing from a relevant Level 2 course, or from suitable GCSEs.
