Grŵp Llandrillo Menai yn cyhoeddi cynlluniau ar gyfer buddsoddiad gwerth £11.2m yng nghampws Y Rhyl

Mae'r cynlluniau ar hyn o bryd yn mynd trwy'r broses gynllunio, gyda'r bwriad o greu hwb addysg a hyfforddiant o safon fyd-eang ar gyfer y sector peirianneg.

Bydd y ganolfan yn galluogi dysgwyr i ddatblygu sgiliau a fydd yn cwrdd ag anghenion cyflogwyr yn y dyfodol, yn cynnwys y sector ynni adnewyddadwy, gweithgynhyrchu 'ychwanegu haenau' a thrawsnewidiad digidol.

Bydd Sefydliad Technoleg Ynni Adnewyddadwy yn rhan o'r datblygiad newydd gan roi cyfle i ddysgwyr o bob cwr o'r rhanbarth uwchsgilio, ailhyfforddi a bod yn rhan o sector y disgwylir iddo dyfu'n sylweddol dros y blynyddoedd nesaf. Mae'r datblygiad eisoes wedi derbyn cefnogaeth gan y cwmni rhyngwladol RWE Renewables sy'n rheoli nifer o safleoedd ynni adnewyddadwy ledled y DU.

Bydd disgyblion o ysgolion lleol hefyd yn gallu defnyddio'r ganolfan er mwyn cael cychwyn buan ar hyfforddi ar gyfer swyddi'n y dyfodol.

Meddai Lawrence Wood, Pennaeth Coleg Llandrillo:

"Bydd y datblygiad hwn yn ychwanegiad pwysig i gampws Coleg Llandrillo yn y Rhyl. Bydd yn rhoi cyfle i unigolion yn y rhanbarth ddysgu a hyfforddi gyda'r dechnoleg ddiweddaraf, a hynny mewn amgylchedd modern a phwrpasol. Bydd hyn yn eu rhoi mewn sefyllfa gref i ddilyn gyrfaoedd mewn diwydiannau megis cynhyrchu ynni, peirianneg a gweithgynhyrchu.

"Fy ngweledigaeth ar gyfer y ganolfan hon yw y bydd yn gweithredu mewn partneriaeth â'r diwydiant gan sicrhau fod gan bobl y sgiliau angenrheidiol i gefnogi twf economaidd ac arloesedd o fewn y sector yma yng ngogledd Cymru."

Meddai'r Cyng. Hugh Evans OBE, Arweinydd Cyngor Sir Ddinbych:

"Rwy'n croesawu'r cynigion hyn ar gyfer Campws Coleg Llandrillo yn y Rhyl, sy'n anelu at gynnig addysg o safon fyd-eang ym maes peirianneg i gefnogi pob math o ddiwydiannau ledled Gogledd Cymru, yn cynnwys y sector ynni adnewyddadwy.

"Trwy roi'r cyfleusterau a'r cyfleoedd addysgiadol gorau bosibl i ddysgwyr yn y rhanbarth, fe'u galluogir i ddatblygu gyrfaoedd a bydd hynny'n darparu gweithlu hyfforddedig i gwmnïau a fydd yn helpu ein economi i dyfu yma yng Ngogledd Cymru."

Bydd y Ganolfan Ragoriaeth ar gampws Coleg Llandrillo yn y Rhyl yn debyg iawn i Ganolfan STeM Grŵp Llandrillo Menai yn Llangefni, a lansiwyd gan y Prif Weinidog, Mark Drakeford yn 2019.

Mae'n rhan o strategaeth ehangach gwerth £90m ar draws y Grŵp i foderneiddio cyfleusterau addysg a hyfforddi, ac mae sefydlu Canolfannau Rhagoriaeth wrth graidd y strategaeth honno.

Mae prosiectau eraill, yn cynnwys adleoli campws Bangor i Barc Menai yng Ngwynedd, hefyd yn mynd trwy'r broses gynllunio ar hyn o bryd.

Eglurodd Dafydd Evans, Prif Weithredwr Grŵp Llandrillo Menai:

"Mae ein cynlluniau i foderneiddio'n cyd-fynd yn agos gyda'r sectorau twf a adnabuwyd gan Fwrdd Uchelgais Economaidd Gogledd Cymru.

"Bydd datblygu mwy o Ganolfannau Rhagoriaeth mewn lleoliadau allweddol, megis y Rhyl a Bangor, yn ein helpu i fireinio ein darpariaeth cyrsiau ymhellach a gwneud yn sicr eu bod yn ateb gofynion cyflogwyr, yn gwella cyfleoedd gwaith ein dysgwyr, ac yn cefnogi'r economi'n ehangach."

Currently in the pre-application phase, the new centre will become a hub for delivering world-class education and training for the engineering sector.

The centre will enable learners to develop skills supporting the future needs of industry, including those critical to the renewable energy sector, additive manufacturing and the digital transformation of industry.

A new Institute for Renewable Energy Technology will be part of the new development providing the opportunity for learners from across the region to upskill, retrain and be part of this sector which is set to grow exponentially. This development has been supported by the international company RWE Renewables who manage many renewable energy sites across the UK.

Local school pupils will also be able to access the centre to get a head start in their training for jobs of the future.

"This new development will significantly enhance our Coleg Llandrillo, Rhyl Campus. It will provide learners in the region the ability to learn and train on the latest technology in a state-of-the-art learning environment, this will stand them in good stead to pursue well-paid careers in industries such as power generation, engineering and advanced manufacturing.

"My vision for this centre is that it operates in partnership with industry providing people with the skills required to support economic growth and innovation in the sector in North Wales."

Cllr Hugh Evans OBE, Leader of Denbighshire County Council, said:

"I welcome these proposals for Coleg Llandrillo's Rhyl Campus which aim to offer a world-class education in engineering to support a host of industries across North Wales, including the renewable energy sector.

"Providing learners in the region with the very best education facilities and opportunities enables them to develop careers and provides industry with well-trained employees which helps grow our economy here in North Wales."

The proposed Centre of Excellence at the Coleg Llandrillo, Rhyl Campus will replicate Grŵp Llandrillo Menai's highly acclaimed Canolfan STeM in Llangefni, which was launched by First Minister, Mark Drakeford, in 2019.

It is part of a wider, Grŵp-wide £90m strategy to modernise its education and training facilities, with the establishment of high quality Centres of Excellence at the heart of that strategy.

Other proposals, including the relocation of the Bangor campus to Parc Menai in Gwynedd, are also currently going through the planning process.

"Developing additional Centres of Excellence in key locations, such as Rhyl and Bangor, will allow us to further refine our bespoke, industry-targeted provision to improve our learners' career prospects and support the wider economy."
