Myfyriwr Dolgellau yn derbyn Ysgoloriaeth gradd Prifysgol Bangor gan Gyngor Gwynedd.

Rydym yn falch iawn o gyhoeddi, bod un o fyfyrwyr lefel A Dolgellau, sef Ceri Mai Jones wedi derbyn ysgoloriaeth gan Brifysgol Bangor a Chyngor Gwynedd i astudio Cyfrifiadureg o fis Medi ymlaen.

Tra bydd Ceri’n astudio, mi fydd hi hefyd yn gweithio i adran Asiantaeth Cefnffyrdd Gogledd a Chanolbarth Cymru yn canolbwyntio ar seibr ddiogelwch. Mae’r ysgoloriaeth yn golygu, na fydd rhaid i Ceri dalu unrhyw ffioedd dysgu, ac mi fydd hi hefyd yn derbyn cyflog wrth astudio ac yn gweithio.

Meddai Ceri Mai Jones –

“Mae hwn yn gyfle gwych, mi roeddwn i wedi cael fy nerbyn i astudio Cyfrifiadureg ym Mhrifysgol Lerpwl, diolch i anogaeth fy nhiwtor yn Nolgellau, Hugh Hughes, mi wnes i ymgeisio am yr ysgoloriaeth gyda Chyngor Gwynedd, ac mi fues i’n llwyddiannus.”

Ychwanegodd –

“Mae cychwyn gyrfa mewn addysg uwch, heb orfod poeni am gostau ffioedd yn hollol wych, ac mi fyddai’n derbyn cyflog yn y broses hefyd. Dwi’n teimlo’n lwcus ofnadwy o gael y cyfle yma i ddatblygu fy sgiliau cyfrifiadurol, a hynny drwy gyfrwng y Gymraeg, mewn maes sydd yn datblygu’n gyflym. Hefyd dwi’n teimlo’n freintiedig i fod yn un o 2 ferch sy’n gweithio yn yr adran gyfrifiadurol i’r ACGCC a dwi’n gobeithio gweld y nifer o ferched yn y maes yma yn cynyddu.”

Meddai Huw Hughes, darlithydd Lefel A Cyfrifiadureg yng Ngholeg Meirion-Dwyfor, Dolgellau.

“Mae gweld myfyrwyr yn llwyddo fel hyn yn galondid mawr i mi. Mae ymroddiad a gwaith caled Ceri, unwaith eto, wedi ei dalu ar ei ganfed. Mae’r math yma o gyfle yn amhrisiadwy, byddai Ceri wedi gadael gogledd Cymru fel arall. Mae cadw pobol fel Ceri, gyda’r sgiliau uwch hyn, mewn maes pwysig yn hynod o bwysig. Da iawn ti Ceri”.

While Ceri is studying, she will also work for the North and Mid Wales Trunk Road Agency's department focusing on cyber security. The scholarship means that Ceri will not have to pay any tuition fees, and will also receive a salary while studying and working.

Ceri Mai Jones said: "This is a great opportunity. I was accepted to study Computer Science at the University of Liverpool, thanks to the encouragement of my Dolgellau tutor, Hugh Hughes. I applied for the scholarship with Gwynedd Council and was successful.”

She added: "Starting a higher education course without having to worry about the cost of fees is absolutely fantastic, and I’ll get paid in the process too. I feel incredibly lucky to have this opportunity to develop my computer skills through the medium of Welsh in a rapidly developing field. Also I feel privileged to be one of only two women working in the computer department at the CSSIW and I hope to see the number of women in this field increase.”

Huw Hughes, Computer Science A-level lecturer at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor, Dolgellau said: "Seeing students succeed in this way is very encouraging to me. Ceri's dedication and hard work has once again paid off. This kind of opportunity is invaluable; Ceri would have left North Wales otherwise. Keeping people like Ceri with these advanced skills in an important field is extremely important. Well done Ceri."
