Grŵp Llandrillo Menai learners win medals at WorldSkills UK finals

Six learners from across Coleg Menai, Coleg Llandrillo and Busnes@LlandrilloMenai won medals at the WorldSkills UK finals in South Wales.

Silver and bronze medals were awarded to Rhyl Engineering students Zac Arnold and McKenzie Goodwin-Cottrill, who both competed in the Renewable Energy category.

In the Industrial Electronics category, Iwan Nicklin earned a bronze, while Robat Jones and Lowri Hughes secured a shared bronze medal in the Accountancy Technician competition.

Coleg Llandrillo learner Kayleigh Blears was ‘Highly Commended’ in the hairdressing competition.

All were selected for the finals after finishing in the top eight from across the UK in regional qualifiers.

The WorldSkills UK national finals are the culmination of nine months’ hard work and training for the young people competing. The finals assess the key attributes that employers are looking for in candidates, including practical skills, ability to work under pressure, critical thinking and communication skills.
