Welsh Language Standards and Policy

Welsh Language Standards

Since 1 April 2018, Grŵp Llandrillo Menai have committed to comply with the Welsh Language Standards, as set out by the Welsh Government under Section 44 of the Welsh Language (Wales) Measure 2011. These Standards set clear expectations on the Grŵp to provide services in Welsh to learners and public, and to promote the use of the Welsh language through all the services.

The Language Standards are divided into 5 different categories:

  • Service Delivery
  • Policy Making
  • Operational
  • Record Keeping
  • Promotion

In the same way as the Grŵp used to report annually on its implementation of the language plan, the Grwp will now produce and publish annual reports on its compliance with the Welsh Language Standards, and report on developments in the establishment during the year to strengthen its Welsh language services.

Language Policy
The Grŵp has created a Language Policy to ensure that the Grŵp's commitment to promoting and facilitating the Welsh language continues. The new Language Policy will outline how the Grŵp intends to comply with the Standards and how it will go about taking advantage of every opportunity to promote the use of Welsh language services.

Language complaints
Any complaints relating to the Grŵp’s compliance with the Welsh Language Standards or a failure on the Grŵp’s part to provide a bilingual service will be reported to the Panel Iaith, and follow the Grŵp's complaints procedure.

You also have a right to direct any complaints relating to the Welsh language to the Welsh Language Commissioner: Welsh Language Commissioner's Website.
