Adult Learners

Learning is a lifelong journey - so if you are looking to improve your career prospects; need to brush up on your English and Maths, or you simply want to learn a new hobby in a friendly environment, we have a course for you

Whatever your age, wherever you live, whatever your interest or reasons for wanting to develop new skills or learn more - we can help.

Why return to study as an adult?
Every student has their own reasons for wanting to return to education, some of these can include:

  • Career Advancement & Professional Development: Developing your skills can open up opportunities at work, improve your earning potential or help you find a new career.
  • Personal Growth & Development: Engaging in learning at any stage of life can boost self-confidence and stimulate creativity.
  • Social Engagement: Learning new skills can be a great way to meet new people and have fun in a social environment.

Lifelong learning has been linked to improved cognitive function and wellbeing, helping to create a positive impact on overall quality of life.

What adult learning courses do we offer?
We offer a wide range of part-time adult learning courses to meet everyone’s goal, these include:

What support is available to adult learners?
Our aim is to make learning and education as accessible as possible.

As an adult learner, we understand that you may have other responsibilities to fit in alongside your studies, such as work or childcare commitments.

You also may have been out of education for a number of years and so may lack the confidence to take that first step.

  • Accessibility: Our part-time courses take place at our campuses and outreach centres across north-west Wales. Alongside our main campuses in Bangor, Dolgellau, Pwllheli, Llangefni, Rhos-on-Sea and Rhyl, we also have smaller outreach centres in towns including Bangor, Caernarfon, Denbigh and Holyhead. We also run a wide range of courses in community locations such as libraries.
  • Flexibility: Many of our courses are timetabled to help you fit them in around your other commitments.
  • Financial Support: Many of our part-time courses are free. As an adult learner, you may also be eligible for a range of financial support to help you with the costs of your study.
  • Supportive Learning Environment: Our experienced tutors, personalised guidance and the range of learning support available are here to help you make the most of your time at college.

Not sure where to start?
For more information, you can complete the contact form or contact your local campus.

Alternatively, you can visit one of our open events and speak to our staff about your options.
