Coleg Cymraeg appoints four new Ambassadors at Grŵp Llandrillo Menai
Grŵp Llandrillo Menai has announced Lilly-May Adams as a National Further Education Ambassador, along with three new Further Education Ambassadors for the 2025-26 academic year.
In partnership with the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol, the ambassadors will promote the advantages of bilingual education and training to their fellow learners both at the college and beyond. They will also encourage their peers to continue using their Welsh language skills in the workplace in the future.
In addition, the national ambassador will represent the voice of further education learners nationally.
Among the new crew at Grŵp Llandrillo Menai this year will be National Further Education Ambassador Lilly-May Adams, and Further Education Ambassadors Elan Evans, Mark Hughes, and Elliw Jones.
Lilly-May said: “I feel extremely proud and very excited to be chosen as an ambassador for the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol. I'm looking forward to contributing to promoting, strengthening and celebrating the Welsh language among the students at college”
Elan Evans, added: “I'm looking forward to being an Ambassador for the College as it enables me to further develop and expand my Welsh skills in my studies”
The ambassadors will represent the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol and Grŵp Llandrillo Menai at a variety of events, create social media content, and offer ideas on how to promote the Welsh language within their college. In addition, the national ambassador will represent the voice of learners nationally and be invited to contribute views and ideas on the Coleg’s academic board meetings.
The scheme also offers the ambassadors many opportunities to build their confidence and skills, and to be part of their college's Welsh-speaking community.
Mark Hughes said: “I’m excited to be an ambassador for the college because I can develop my skills in the Welsh language, and work to encourage other students to speak and make use of the language”
Elliw Jones said: "I'm looking forward to being an Ambassador, I think it's important to promote the Welsh language and I'm looking forward to working with the others"
Siân Pritchard, Sgiliaith, Bilingual Development and Equality Manager, said:
“We’re looking forward to working with the new ambassadors across our colleges to raise awareness of the bilingual education available to them, and the great advantages of using their Welsh”
