Some courses are free and others have no course fees but you will have to pay an examination fee. On some courses there may be other costs. You will be given details and asked to pay when you join the course.
Some courses are eligible for a 50% concessionary fee. These are indicated by a tick in the ‘Concessionary Fee’ column. To be eligible for a concession, you must be paying the fees yourself and be registered unemployed or be in receipt of "Universal Credits" which now replaces the following benefits: Incapacity Benefit, Working Tax Credit, Income Support, Housing Benefit, Disability Living Allowance, Carers Allowance or Job Seekers. Allowance, or be 60 or over (male or female). If you are between 16-18 on 1 September 2023, then the tuition fee for part-time courses is waived.
Please remember that if you claim a concessionary fee rate, you must provide evidence at the time of enrolment to support your claim. Concessions are available on course fees only and do not apply to exam fees. Students from outside the EU should contact the International Office to determine the fees payable.
Courses lasting more than one year
When a course lasts for more than one year, the fee quoted is for the first year only.
Resources Fee
All Further Education students will be charged a resources fee of £25 when enrolling on a full-time course.
Course fees over £100
These may be paid in stages by Standing Order, where you are paying the fees yourself.
Further Education courses
A deposit of 20% of the total course fee plus the full exam fee is payable upon enrolment, followed by four further instalments of 20%. Payment must be completed by four months after the course start date. Details are available from the Finance Office.
Fees Paid by Employer
Where your employer is paying your course fees, they should confirm this in writing and you should bring the letter of confirmation with you to enrol. Details should be included in Section 4 of the enrolment form. Fees will be due in 30 days after the issue of an invoice. Should your employer not pay, you will be responsible for the debt.

Learners who withdraw from a part time FE course of more than 10 weeks within the first 2 WEEKS (or part weeks) of a course are entitled to a full tuition fee refund less a £30 administration fee.
Learners who leave a course of more than 10 weeks after attending up to 4 WEEKS may be eligible to a 50% refund of the tuition fee less a £30 administration fee. Leaners who withdraw from a part time FE course of less than 10 weeks within the first 2 WEEKS are entitled to a 50% refund.
No tuition fees will be refunded after the student has attended for 4 WEEKS or more.Exam fees will be refunded to the student if they have not already been paid to the Awarding Body.
