The Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor student is set for her first full senior camp ahead of games against Croatia and Kosovo

Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor student Mared Griffiths has been called up to the Cymru women’s squad for Euro qualifying games against Croatia and Kosovo.

Mared, from Trawsfynydd, studies Level 3 Business at the college’s Dolgellau campus.

The 17-year-old is one of five young players selected for their first full senior camp with the Cymru women’s football team, along with Soffia Kelly, Mayzee Davies, Elena Cole and Ania Denham.

Cymru kick off their campaign against Croatia at Cae Ras in Wrexham on Friday, April 5, before facing Kosovo in Podujevo on Tuesday, April 9.

Manager Rhian Wilkinson has announced a strong 26-player squad for her first matches in charge of the side.

Jess Fishlock will become Cymru’s first ever 150-capped player should she play in both matches, while centurions Sophie Ingle and Angharad James are also available.

Cymru will return to Cae Ras for the first time since March 2020 for their match against Croatia next Friday (KO 7.15pm). They will then travel to Kosovo for their second fixture at the Zahir Pajaziti Stadium in Podujevo the following Tuesday (KO 1pm BST).
