Mali and Cadi’s artwork on display in London exhibitions

After completing their courses at Coleg Menai this summer, both have had pieces selected for prestigious exhibitions

Mali Smith and Cadi Richardson have had their work selected for exhibition in London after completing their Art & Design courses at Coleg Menai.

Mali’s stunning 3D metal piece, ‘Warming Waters’, has been chosen for the prestigious UAL Origins Creative exhibition at Mall Galleries from July 16-19.

‘Warming Waters’ highlights the effects of climate change on sea life, and caught the attention of UAL curator Calum Hall from among more than 600 submissions from across the UK.

It will be on display until Saturday at Origins Creative, an annual exhibition hosted by UAL, the awarding body for the Level 3 Art & Design course which Mali recently completed at the Parc Menai campus.

Origins Creatives is a free exhibition which provides emerging talent with a platform to be seen and celebrated, connecting them with potential collaborators, industry leaders and a wider audience.

It features students’ work from entry level up to Level 4 across a variety of creative subject areas - including a diverse range of painting, photography, drawing, sculpture, fashion and more.

Elsewhere in London, a zine created by Cadi as part of her Art Foundation course at Coleg Menai is to be showcased at The Design Museum in Kensington.

Her zine,‘Ynys Môn Camping Trip Guide’, which she created as part of a mapping project, will be shown from September as part of the year-long Future Observatory exhibition, which champions new design thinking on environmental issues.

The Design Museum recently hosted an exhibition featuring artworks from the career of legendary film-maker Tim Burton. Upcoming shows range from an exhibition on London’s iconic Blitz night club to a retrospective on the career of film director Wes Anderson.
