Glynllifon Students Discover Agricultural Innovation at Agritechnica 2025

Land Technology and Agriculture students from Glynllifon recently embarked on an inspiring educational trip to Agritechnica, the world’s leading agricultural engineering event, held in Hannover, Germany.

Agritechnica attracts professionals from across the globe, including producers, farmers, and contractors, to showcase cutting-edge developments in agricultural engineering and technology. This year’s event provided students with a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the latest trends shaping the future of agriculture.

The students had the chance to explore exhibits from renowned manufacturers, many of whom do not trade in Wales, offering them an exclusive look at innovative machinery and techniques.

With technical experts available at every stand, students were able to engage in meaningful discussions, gaining firsthand knowledge of emerging technologies—particularly in electric and hybrid power systems, which reflect the industry’s growing focus on sustainability and zero-carbon solutions.

In addition to Agritechnica, the group spent time at two dairy farms on the outskirts of Berlin, gaining practical experience in modern European dairy practices.

The trip also included a visit to Volkswagen’s massive Wolfsburg factory, where 2,500 cars are produced daily, offering students a firsthand look at large-scale manufacturing and engineering.

Esmor Wyn Hughes, Agriculture and Agricultural Engineering Lecturer at Glynllifon, said:

"Visiting Agritechnica gave our students invaluable insight into the cutting-edge developments transforming agriculture. Providing access to such experiences is essential as we prepare the next generation of farmers and land technologists in Wales."
