Level 2 Apprentice Lifting Fitter

Daily duties

  • Inspect lifting equipment to ensure safety and compliance with standards, both in our workshop and at customers' sites.
  • File detailed reports on the condition of equipment, documenting identification numbers and other relevant details.
  • Carry out proof load testing of equipment to verify strength and functionality under load conditions.
  • Assist in the inspection and testing of lifting equipment to ensure reliability and durability.
  • Manufacture and install new lifting equipment, adhering to design specifications and safety standards.
  • Repair and rectify various items of lifting equipment using mechanical fitting and electrical skills.
  • Work overtime when required to meet project deadlines or urgent demands.
  • Occasionally work away from home for installations or site-specific tasks.
  • Fill in daily worksheets and timesheets to track activities and hours worked accurately.
  • Learn and perform routine maintenance on lifting machinery and devices.
  • Work alongside senior technicians to gain in-depth knowledge of lifting operations.
  • Work to the common good by setting an example of professionalism and encouragement to others.
  • Adhere to and actively promote the company values in all aspects of work.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and practices to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Attend regular toolbox talks to stay informed about safety guidelines and updates.
  • Participate in relevant training courses to enhance knowledge and skills in line with company expectations.
  • Maintain accurate records of all inspections, repairs, tests, and installations performed.

Desirable personal qualities of apprentice

• Enthusiasm for mechanical work and a desire to learn.

• Basic understanding of tools and machinery.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols.

• Good problem-solving skills and adaptability.

• Teamwork and effective communication skills.

  • On-the-job training with experienced Lifting Fitters.
  • Opportunities to gain industry certifications and qualifications.

  • Workshop and on-site work, with exposure to heavy equipment and machinery.
  • Adherence to safety procedures and use of protective equipment
  • Minimum of 3 GCSE's at grade C or above
  • 37 hours per week
