Nikole To Represent Great Britain in Olympic Weightlifting Championships!

A Coleg Menai student has been selected to represent Great Britain in the World Olympic Weightlifting Championships in Saudi Arabia this year.

Nikole Roberts, who studies Sport (Outdoor Education) Level 3 at Coleg Menai, will head to Saudi Arabia in October to compete in the Under 49 Kg Category.

Nikole has been weightlifting for around three years, and trains five times a week at ‘Bangor Barbell’, where she also holds her own weightlifting coaching sessions called Elevate Weightlifting.

She has already been crowned Welsh and British Champion, and hopes to bring back a medal at the World Championships next month.

Andy Collins, Nikole’s Course Tutor, said,

“It’s been fantastic supporting Nikole and watching her skills and strength develop. We are all rooting for her, and can’t wait to see what she achieves at the World Championships!”

Nikole said,

“I’m really excited to be competing at such a big event! I’ve been training hard and can’t wait to get there. I’m grateful to the tutors at Coleg Menai who have been so supportive and encouraging”.
