New Partnership Set to Boost STEM Skills

Grŵp Llandrillo Menai has teamed up with Sbarduno in a bid to inspire young people to consider a career within the Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) industry.

Thanks to a new Memorandum of Understanding, Sbarduno - a North-Wales based STEM engagement organisation - will utilise Grŵp Llandrillo Menai’s brand new science laboratories at its Llangefni, Pwllheli and Dolgellau campuses to deliver a broad programme of events to promote STEM engagement and careers amongst young people.

Current students at Grŵp Llandrillo Menai will also benefit from events and sessions held by Sbarduno, and the two organisations will also host a variety of engaging activities to promote STEM within North Wales, at events such as Eisteddfod Genedlaethol 2023.

Awen Ashworth, Owner of Sbarduno, explained,

“This is a very exciting opportunity for Sbarduno! I am looking forward to working in partnership with Grŵp Llandrillo Menai across the 3 sites inspiring young people of Anglesey and Gwynedd".

"Collaborating and sharing similar synergies will enhance the support we give to our future Scientists by raising their awareness of the STEM opportunities we have available in the region”.

Aled Jones-Griffith, Principal of Coleg Menai and Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor, said,

“We’re excited to collaborate with Sbarduno, and look forward to working with Awen and her team to deliver interesting and engaging sessions for young people in North Wales, which we hope will inspire them to take up a future in STEM”.

He added,

“We have invested heavily in our campuses to ensure that our young people are taught using industry-standard facilities such as laboratories and Engineering workshops preparing them for a successful STEM career”
