They were joined by two current Electrical Engineering apprentices, Tomos Eames and Ryan Cain, who shared their experiences of studying an Apprenticeship. Ryan is an Apprentice with Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, whilst Tomos is completing his Apprenticeship with Siemens.

Dafydd Evans, Chief Executive of Grŵp LlandrilloMenai, said,

“It was a great privilege to be able to show the Minister our fantastic facilities, classrooms and workshops here at Coleg Menai’s campus in Llangefni. Minister Keegan was able to gain an insight into the Apprenticeships we deliver, and the great support students receive whilst studying with Grŵp Llandrillo Menai”.

Minister for Apprenticeships and Skills, Gillian Keegan, said,

“Getting out to all corners of the UK to listen to and hear about the experiences of business and how they are coping with the pandemic and their recovery plans is an important part of my job.

I am delighted to see how key, growing industries across Anglesey, like the automotive, marine, construction and food sectors, are investing in future talent by employing apprentices, and it has been brilliant to meet some of these young people today.

I would like to thank all of the businesses and organisations that took the time to meet with myself and Virginia. Contact has been made and relationships have started and action can now be taken to work together to allow Anglesey to prosper further.”

Virginia Crosbie MP, added,

“It was a privilege to bring Minister Keegan to Coleg Menai. Grwp Llandrillo Menai does so much on Anglesey to train and educate our young people and this was a great opportunity to speak with some of their apprentices. It is vitally important the UK government hears first hand from the people of Anglesey and this is just one way in which I can make that happen.”
