Degrees of Success at Your Local College

Currently, around 1,200 higher education students are studying on 50 different degree courses across its three colleges: Coleg Llandrillo, Coleg Menai and Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor.

Most of the degree courses are offered at the multimillion-pound University Centre in Rhos-on-Sea, with some programmes also available at the Bangor, Llangefni and Dolgellau campuses. The Grŵp’s local provision means that you can study for a degree on your doorstep, saving thousands of pounds and negating the reason to move away to university.

Many of the courses are developed in consultation with employers, to equip learners with the skills and knowledge that employers require and to make the progression into employment easier. Often, the full-time courses are delivered over two days per week, helping learners fit their studies around work and family commitments.

One area which is widely predicted to become a growth sector in the near future is Events Management. Of course, the sector has been temporarily affected by the Covid pandemic, but looking towards the future, it is anticipated that there will be a huge demand for events’ managers once large scale events are back in business. Thousands of weddings and parties, concerts and conferences which were due to take place in 2020 have been postponed, and many of these will need an events manager to ensure that their important event runs smoothly.

The college’s Foundation Degree (FdA) Events Management - which is available at the Rhos-on-Sea campus and is industry approved – can be studied on both a full-time and part-time basis, over 2 years and 4 years respectively (it is also available on a modular basis).

Managing events is an exciting field offering considerable potential for graduates and Grŵp Llandrillo Menai’s Events Management foundation degree will help you develop an in-depth understanding of the key attributes needed in creating exceptional live event experiences.

This course offers a vocational pathway into higher education, allowing you to gain both an academic qualification and the knowledge and skills to work in tourism, whilst developing your managerial skills.

Our course is ideal for anyone keen to pursue a career in a variety of sectors within the events industry, ranging from festivals and exhibitions to sporting events and wedding functions.

Get hands-on experience of events management with this practical and exciting events management degree. Take the theory learned in the classroom and immediately apply it to real-life events which you will develop, organise and deliver yourself.

You will gain first-hand knowledge of the complexities of this growing sector; learning how to design, deliver and manage events.

The course aims to help students position themselves as leaders in this sector, and helps ensure that they have enough knowledge to secure graduate roles once the course is complete.

After completing the FdA Events Management programme, you will have the opportunity to proceed onto level 6 to complete the BA (Hons) Events Management. Graduates may start new careers in the events industry, or gain additional responsibilities and increased status within their existing organisations.
