Catering students raise vital funds for Tŷ Gobaith

Coleg Llandrillo hosted an evening meal and raffle in the Orme View Restaurant with proceeds going to the children’s hospice

Coleg Llandrillo Hospitality and Catering students raised £457 for children’s hospice Tŷ Gobaith.

The college hosted an evening meal and raffle in the Orme View Restaurant at the Rhos-on-Sea campus, with proceeds going to the hospice.

Tŷ Gobaith fundraiser Vanessa Marubbi, said: “We are so grateful to the team at Coleg Llandrillo for thinking of us and putting on this event.

“It was a wonderful evening and a great total that will make a real difference to local seriously ill children and their families.”

Mike Garner, hospitality lecturer at Coleg Llandrillo, said: "Tŷ Gobaith provides vitally important care for terminally ill children and their families in our community, and it was good for our learners to be able to give something back.

"Our Level 1, 2 and 3 Catering and Hospitality students prepared, cooked and served all the food, so they gained invaluable experience while also raising money for such a worthy cause.

"We're very proud of our staff and students for putting on such an enjoyable and successful event, and very pleased to be able to help Tŷ Gobaith."

Tŷ Gobaith, just outside Conwy, and Hope House in Oswestry, care for babies, children and young people who have life-threatening conditions and are not expected to live beyond 18 years of age.

They also offer counselling and bereavement counselling to hospice families, and bereavement counselling to families who have suffered the death of a child in any circumstance up to 18 years of age.
