In 2021 at the Rhyl Sixth - the dedicated sixth form centre situated on the campus - not only did the A Level subject area record an overall pass rate of 100%, but 43% of learners achieved coveted A* and A grades across nearly 20 different subjects!

For those with more hands-on skills or requirements, the college also offers a wide range of full-time vocational courses in areas including Construction, Engineering, Public Services, Business Administration, Hair & Beauty, Health & Care and Motor Vehicle Technology.

This summer across Grŵp Llandrillo Menai’s campuses, vocational learners excelled, with over 600 learners achieving their level 3 qualifications across all college campuses. We are delighted that 46% of our learners completing their Extended Diploma qualifications achieved the highest Distinction or Distinction* grade.

Over in Rhyl’s Public Services department, 11 out of the 12 Level 3 students gained a place at university, studying a range of degree courses: Paramedical Science, Professional Policing, Criminology and Digital Forensics.

Coleg Llandrillo, Rhyl’s investment in green and sustainable technology is continuing at a swift pace after it recently took delivery of a £40,000 Tesla electric car for its Centre for Automotive Technology. Nearly £100,000 in total has been invested in the college’s electric vehicle/hybrid fleet to date, but the

benefits to future Motor Vehicle students and local industry will be immeasurable.

Former Hairdressing student Leighton Brown - who completed Levels 1, 2 and 3 at the Rhyl campus - now runs a successful vegan, eco-friendly, award-winning hairdressing salon in Prestatyn. Eden Hairdressing was recently crowned the most innovative beauty business in Wales!

Over at the Motor Vehicle training centre, Tiler Moorcroft-Jones won the Gold medal in the 2021 Worldskills UK Vehicle Body Repair competition and was crowned as the best new talent in the industry! Tiler said: “I’m absolutely over the moon with the Gold and can’t wait to see if I will be representing the UK in Shanghai or Lyon later this year.”
