We have a fantastic opportunity for a Street Lighting Apprentice to join the team at our offices in Bangor, Gwynedd. We are open to applications from candidates who live in, or can commute from some of the following areas: Abergwyngregyn, Llandudno, Conwy, Colwyn Bay, Abergele, Rhyl, Prestatyn, Bodelwyddan, Denbigh, Ruthin, Llangollen, Bala, Barmouth, Portmeirion, Porthmadog, Penygroes, Caernarfon and the surrounding areas.

Role Responsibility
Reporting directly to the Site Manager, the Street Lighting Apprentice will embark on a dynamic career in the street lighting industry. In this role, you will work closely with experienced electricians to install, maintain, and repair street lighting systems.

Life on site will involve working both inside and outside.  It won’t always be glamorous and sometimes you might find yourself in a dusty or confined environment.  However, your safety and health is our number one priority and full protective clothing and equipment is provided.  Your colleagues are there to help and look out for each other; and safety is everyone’s responsibility.

On a day to day basis, the responsibilities will include the following (not exhaustive):

  • Assisting in the installation of streetlight fixtures
  • Troubleshooting electrical issues and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Collaborating with experienced electricians to troubleshoot and repair electrical faults in street lighting infrastructure
  • Learning and applying knowledge of electrical codes and safety regulations relevant to street lighting installations and highways working
  • Performing routine inspections to identify potential issues and ensure proper functioning of street lighting equipment
  • Working closely with the team to execute scheduled maintenance and address emergency repairs promptly
  • Operating and maintaining tools and equipment used in street lighting projects
  • Following established protocols for ensuring the quality and efficiency of street lighting installations

The ideal candidate will be a person in receipt of the following:

  • A Basic understanding of electrical theory
  • Strong commitment to safety practices and procedures
  • Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions from experienced electricians
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies in street lighting

Educational Qualifications required:
Preferably GCSEs A-C or numbered equivalent (9-4) in both English and Maths
