Course Description
Are you a new or existing professional in the marine sector? Do you want to gain a valuable qualification while you work? This NVQ course allows you to get your competence recognised in a wide variety of marine activities, including boat production, boat maintenance and repair of boats under supervision.
The course is suitable for students progressing from a relevant Level 1 or 2 qualification, or from existing professional knowledge. You must be currently employed in the industry and looking to study on a day-release basis.
Entry Criteria
- You should be working in a boatbuilding, outfitting or maintenance environment
- You must be motivated and enthusiastic
- You should have an appropriate mechanical and practical aptitude
All places are subject to satisfactory interview.

Progression
Completion of this NVQ will help you progress in your marine career. You may be able to seek additional responsibilities in your job and work towards a supervisory or managerial role. You will have improved your employability in the marine industry, and a range of professional options will be available.
If you want to advance further in education, you will have the option of progressing onto a Level 3 course. Grŵp Llandrillo Menai offered a number of suitable courses, including a BTEC Marine Engineering course and a City and Guilds course in Boatbuilding, Maintenance and Support.
