Course Description
Kick-start Your Career in Hair and Beauty!
Looking to take your first step into the exciting world of hair and beauty? Our Further Education (FE) Starter Course is the perfect place to begin.
This is a hands-on course, you will gain real industry experience by working on head blocks and real clients, helping you build confidence and practical skills from day one. You will learn a wide range of core techniques, including shampooing, blow drying, manicures, pedicures, facials, and much more.
We also prepare you for the workplace beyond the salon. You will develop interview skills, professional behaviour, and job preparation, giving you the tools you need to move confidently into employment or further study.
To support your overall success, Maths and Communication skills are taught within the curriculum, helping you strengthen essential skills that employers value.
All elements of the course are compulsory, ensuring you receive a well-rounded and valuable learning experience.

2 x G grade GCSE

Your programme will include a combination of:
- Essential Skills qualifications and/or
- GCSE resits
Essential Skills
This may include a combination of Application of Number, Communication, Digital Literacy and Essential Employability Skills

This may include GCSE Numeracy/Maths and/or Welsh/English Language.
Maths & Welsh/English
If you don't achieve a C or above in Maths and/ or English/Welsh, we will support you to retake these subjects as part of your study programme.
