Course Description
Introduction and development of craft skills relating to a broad range of ceramic techniques. Handbuilding, basic throwing and slip work. Introduction to staining and glazing to develop a personal creative approach to making. Firing is part of the course, and research and practical approaches are taken with all areas of the process to create the finished work.
Students with existing skills are welcome to develop higher level skills and to enhance personal practice.

Delivery
Practical work, demonstrations and short presentations.
Assessment
Work assessed at end of course.
Progression
Development of a portfolio in order to join other full or part-time courses - for example, Level 2 or 3 provision such as BTEC or Foundation Studies Art and Design.
