Green Digital Future

How Gwynedd businesses aim to reach net zero will be the focus of a special event hosted by Busnes@LlandrilloMenai next week. The event will celebrate the Green Digital Academy programme, with the SMEs who have taken part taking centre stage to share their experiences and how they have been supported to reduce their carbon emissions.

Green Digital Academy is run by Busnes@LlandrilloMenai and has worked with 54 business, providing them with expert mentoring and advice to adapt and reduce their carbon footprint. Funded by UK Government’s Community Renewal Fund, the Green Digital Academy has supported SMEs across the region to make the most of new technology to reduce their impact on the climate.

One of the businesses to benefit from the project is Rhys Anwyl, owner of Rhiw Goch Holidays near Llanfrothen, Gwynedd. He will be one of the speakers at Green Digital Future, he said: “The support we have accessed through the programme has meant we’ve been able to work with experts to calculate our carbon footprint and identify our emission hot spots. The advice has been invaluable and we now hope to continue working with the Green Digital team to move forward towards our goal of becoming met zero.”

Busnes@LlandrilloMenai is part of Grŵp Llandrillo Menai, and provides training and support to businesses. Through this project the aim is to help owners take action to meet growing consumer demand for environmentally-friendly products and services. The hope is that the Green Digital Academy will also lead to increased profits through reduced production costs and efficiency for the businesses who have taken part.

Julie Stokes Jones, is the Project Business Development Officer. She said: “We realise that business often don’t know where to start on their journey to net zero and for small businesses reducing carbon emissions as well as remaining commercially viable is a challenge. This programme was designed to help them prioritise and understand what was best for them. We’re looking forward to our event which will showcase the businesses and the support they have received.”

Popular S4C meteorologist and climate specialist, Steffan Griffiths will be the headline speaker at the event and will outline how everyone has a role to play as we tackle challenges in terms of changing climate. There will also be renewable energy demonstrator rigs on display at the event, where attendees can learn about how they work and how the benefits of the latest technology.

Taith busnesau Gwynedd wrth iddynt yn anelu i leihau carbon a tharged sero net fydd y thema mewn digwyddiad arbennig wedi drefnu gan Busnes@LlandrilloMenai yr wythnos nesaf. Bwriad y digwyddiad yw dathlu rhaglen Academi Ddigidol Werdd, gyda’r busnesau sydd wedi bod yn rhan o’r cynllun yn rhannu eu profiadau a sut y maen nhw wedi cael cefnogaeth i leihau eu hallyriadau carbon.

Mae’r Academi Ddigidol Werdd yn cael ei rhedeg gan Busnes@LlandrilloMenai ac mae wedi gweithio gyda 54 o fusnesau hyd yma, gan roi cyngor arbenigol iddynt ar sut i addasu a lleihau eu hôl troed carbon. Wedi’i ariannu gan Gronfa Adnewyddu Cymunedol Llywodraeth y DU, mae’r Academi Ddigidol Werdd wedi cefnogi busnesau bach a chanolig ar draws y rhanbarth i wneud y gorau o dechnoleg newydd i leihau eu heffaith ar yr hinsawdd.

Un o’r busnesau i elwa o’r prosiect yw Rhys Anwyl, perchennog busnes twristiaeth Rhiw Goch ger Llanfrothen. Bydd yn un o’r siaradwyr yn Dyfodol Digidol Gwyrdd. Dywedodd: “Mae’r cymorth rydym wedi’i gael drwy’r rhaglen wedi golygu ein bod wedi cael gweithio gydag arbenigwyr i ddeall ein hôl troed carbon ac adnabod ein mannau gwan o ran allyriadau. Mae’r cyngor wedi bod yn amhrisiadwy ac rydym rwan yn gobeithio parhau i weithio gyda’r tîm Digidol Gwyrdd i symud ymlaen tuag at ein nod o gyrraedd sero net.”

Mae Busnes@LlandrilloMenai yn rhan o Grŵp Llandrillo Menai, ac yn darparu hyfforddiant a chymorth i fusnesau. Y nod trwy'r prosiect yma yw helpu perchnogion busnesau i gymryd camau i gwrdd â’r galw cynyddol gan gwseriaid am gynhyrch a gwasanaethau amgylcheddol gyfeillgar. Y gobaith hefyd yw y bydd yr Academi Ddigidol Werdd hefyd o fudd masnachol gan arwain at leihau costau cynhyrchu ac yn cynyddu effeithlonrwydd y busnesau sydd wedi cymryd rhan.

Ychwanegodd: “Rydym yn sylweddoli nad yw busnesau yn gwybod ble i ddechrau ar eu taith i sero net ac i fusnesau bach mae lleihau allyriadau carbon yn ogystal â pharhau i fod ym fasnachol yn gallu bod yn her. Mae’r rhaglen wedi cael ei chynllunio i’w helpu nhw flaenoriaethu a deall pa gamau maen nhw yn gallu eu cymryd. Rydym yn edrych ymlaen at y digwyddiad fydd yn gyfle i ni gylfwno’r busnesau sydd wedi cymryd rhan a’r gefnogaeth y maen nhw wedi gael.”

Y meteorolegydd a chyflwynydd tywydd S4C, Steffan Griffiths fydd prif siaradwr y digwyddiad a bydd yn trafod sut all bawb chwarae rôl wrth i ni fynd i’r afael â heriau o ran newid hinsawdd. Bydd arddangosfa offer ynni adnewyddol yn y digwyddiad hefyd a gall mynychwyr ddysgu sut maen nhw'n gweithio a manteision y dechnoleg ddiweddaraf.
