Why study your degree at college?

Whatever qualification you choose, you can be sure of excellent tuition and individual support.

Here are ten reasons why you should study for a degree–level course at Grŵp Llandrillo Menai.

STAY LOCAL
At Grŵp Llandrillo Menai, you can study for a degree right here on your doorstep, without having to move away to university. Most courses are delivered at the University Centre in Rhos-on-Sea, with some programmes available locally at our Bangor, Dolgellau, Llangefni and Rhyl campuses.

SUPPORTIVE
All degree–level students get a dedicated Personal Tutor. Class sizes are small, so your expert tutors will have more time to dedicate to you for individual support and guidance. Our friendly staff in Learner Services can also provide you with help with CVs and interview techniques, and offer careers advice.

In the National Student Survey 2021, 83% of our degree students voted that they were satisfied with the teaching on their course! What's more, Grŵp Llandrillo Menai is delighted with the highest overall satisfaction rating of all HE institutions in North Wales.

AFFORDABLE AND ACCESSIBLE
If you live at home, you could save thousands of pounds as you won't have to pay the additional accommodation costs incurred by students who move away to study. Additional bursaries may be available, depending on individual circumstances.

CONVENIENT AND FLEXIBLE
Our timetables are designed to make it easier for you to fit your studies around your work, family and other commitments. Our full and part-time courses are timetabled over one or two days per week with some of our provision delivered in the evenings.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Our degree–level courses are developed in consultation with regional employers to ensure you’re equipped with up to date skills that employers need. We continually review courses to ensure they lead to real employment opportunities. Many of our programmes also include work experience, placements, guest speakers and visits.

PROGRESSION
All of our Foundation Degrees offer further progression opportunities to honours level of study, either with ourselves or at another university and many of our graduates gain a promotion at work. We also offer Access to Higher Education provision for those looking to return to education, aspiring to do something new or changing careers, with a range of routes available.

EXCELLENT REPUTATION
The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) awarded the Grŵp a commended judgement in 2016 for 'the enhancement of student learning opportunities.' The Grŵp was one of only 4 out of 62 colleges across England and Wales who achieved the commended judgement.

EXPERT TEACHING STAFF
Our degree–level teaching staff are highly experienced at teaching at a higher-level. Many of our staff have higher-level qualifications such as PHDs and Masters and some have been involved in research work in universities. As a degree–level student you’ll benefit from their strong vocational experience as many of our staff have worked within industry.

WELSH LANGUAGE
Grŵp Llandrillo Menai is fully committed to promoting and supporting the Welsh language and we provide all degree–level students with the opportunity to be assessed in Welsh. Some courses are also taught bilingually and there is also a Welsh language bursary available for Welsh speaking students.

STATE-OF-THE-ART FACILITIES
Many of our courses are delivered at a dedicated University Centre at the Rhos-on-Sea campus, which provides degree-level students with bespoke teaching and learning facilities. Degree courses are also available at our fully-equipped campuses in Bangor, Dolgellau, Llangefni and Rhyl.
