TWO ENGINEERING STUDENTS REACH NATIONAL WORLDSKILLS FINALS

Two students from the Engineering Department at Coleg Menai’s Llangefni campus have progressed to the WorldSkills National Finals this year.

The students, Cai Jones and Aidan Skinner will each compete against eight other competitors from across the UK.

Aidan, who studies Level 3 Manufacturing Engineering will compete in the Mechanical CAD competition, whilst Cai, a Level 3 Electronic/Electrical Engineering student will compete in the Industrial Electronics category.

Taking place in November, the Mechanical CAD competition will be held at New College Lanarkshire, Scotland. Aidan will work on a range of complex mechanical 3D modelling tasks and drawings.

Also being held in November, Cai will travel to Gower College in Swansea to compete in the Industrial Electronics Category, where he will be judged on a range of electronics activities such as; Soldering, Fault finding, Basic Electronic Theory and Hardware design.

Damian Woodford, Programme Area Manager for Engineering, said,

“Cai and Aidan have both always demonstrated a keen interest in their respective subjects, and work hard at college to develop and improve their skills”
