Course Description

The skills developed throughout the qualification may also support students intending to progress directly into employment in the creative industries.

This qualification will provide students with an opportunity to stretch and refine their practical skills levels while defining their own personal interests and area of expertise.

The qualification is suitable for students who intend to pursue a career in the creative arts to explore, develop and test their creativity within a qualification structure which is stimulating and demanding, and provides a supportive transition into either higher-level training or employment.

This course will define your artistic identity, specialising in your strengths whilst giving you the opportunity to work as part of a company of performers culminating in a showcase performance for an audience.

Entry Criteria

This is a professional level course. As such, entrants typically have attained 3 A Levels or an equivalent Level 3 vocational qualifications at Merit or above. In addition, all applicants need to successfully attend an audition.

Specialist workshops - Acting/Singing/Dancing and current developments in the creative industries. Group and Project work both within college as well as professional settings.

Higher-level training or employment.

Each year learners take part in the BBC ‘It’s My Shout’ project which involves them working with a production team of industry mentors from ‘It’s My Shout’ and BBC Cymru Wales.

Student films are given a special screening by BBC Cymru Wales to all involved in the production of the film.

The film itself is broadcast on BBC2 and S4C in November.
