Course Description

Would you like a career as a sports massage practitioner?

The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage therapy has been designed to provide you with the requisite knowledge, understanding and skills to work in an unsupervised capacity as a sports massage practitioner, with non-pathological (no-injured) tissue.

VTCT units at level 3 will include:

Anatomy and Physiology for sports massage
Principles of health and fitness
Understand the principles of soft tissue dysfunction
Professional practice in sports massage
Sports massage treatments.

All places are subject to satisfactory interview.

Delivery

The programme will be delivered through a blend of the following:

Practical modules
Formal lectures
Individual research
Group work

Assessment

Written questions
Observation work
Oral questions
Construction of a portfolio

Evidence on unit outcomes will be documented.

Progression

Graduates of this qualification will be able to gain employment as a Level 3 Sports massage practitioner, providing pre, post, intra/inter and maintenance massage. This may include working in clinics, for sporting teams or as a mobile therapist, either in an employed or self-employed context.

Graduates will be able to progress onto the VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage (QCF). It will introduce more advanced massage and assessment techniques, preparing you to work with non-acute injury and pre-existing conditions.
