Course Description
An apprenticeship in construction is a form of vocational training whereby the apprentice follows a Construction Skills' approved framework to develop skills and knowledge, and who then demonstrates and gathers evidence of their application in a construction environment.
In order to complete a Construction Apprenticeship, the apprentice must have been employed during the apprenticeship, have evidenced competence in the specified range of vocational skills and have an employed status at the time of completion.
Entry Criteria
- All applicants must have GCSEs at grade D or above in literacy and numeracy or must have achieved the Construction Foundation course
- You should have achieved a Level 1 or Level 2 post-16 qualification in Construction or have at least one year of life skills gained after compulsory education and meet the Apprenticeship entry criteria.
- Apprentices must have an employer who can cover the apprenticeship qualification criteria.
- All places are subject to satisfactory interview.
Delivery
- Technical training is provided in the college 1 day per week, including time in practical workshops
Assessment
- Completion of a portfolio of evidence
- Work based observations
- Theory based tasks and tests
