Course Description
The Certificate in Sustainability and Environmental Management is designed for professionals working at an operational level in environment or sustainability roles, or for those seeking to deepen their knowledge and advance their careers in this field. The course equips learners with a strong foundation in sustainability and environmental principles and the practical tools needed to drive positive change. The curriculum is divided into three modules. On completion, participants can apply for ISEP Practitioner Membership and adopt the PISEP professional suffix.
The curriculum is divided into three modules, covering topics such as:
- Global trends and their environmental, social, economic and organisational implications
- Sustainable business and governance models
- Environmental principles and their link to organisations, products and services
- Relevant policy and legislation and how they affect organisations
- Tools, techniques, systems and practices for sustainability
- Innovation and leading practices for sustainable solutions
- Data collection, analysis and reporting for decision making
- Problem identification and opportunity assessment
- Communication, stakeholder engagement
- Implementation of change, transformation, projects and programmes
- The course fee includes one year’s ISEP membership, effective from enrolment. During the course, participants hold Practitioner Applicant
membership. i
- On successfully passing assessments, graduates are invited to complete the formal process to become a Practitioner Member of ISEP and enjoy the professional benefits thereof
Entry Criteria
To enrol in this certificate course, applicants should have a foundation-level understanding of environmental or sustainability concepts, either through prior work experience or via a relevant introductory qualification (for example, the Foundation Certificate in Sustainability and Environmental Management).
Delivery
The course consists of 120 hours (15 days) of learning and can be delivered via one of the following modes:
- Remote on-line (Tutor Led)
- Classroom-based
Assessment
Assessment is structured across:
- Three knowledge-based assignments
- One competence assessment, which demonstrates how the course knowledge has been practically applied in the workplace.
For those on the applied learning pathway, an alternative route to assessment may be available, focusing more heavily on practical demonstration.
Upon successful completion, learners receive a formal certificate and details on how to progress their ISEP Practitioner Membership (with the PISEP suffix).
