Please contact us for further information about applying for this course.
Course Description
Sewing uses everyday numeracy in multiple ways that will help learners gain strength in their everyday maths. Through using a measuring tape and converting between inches and centimetres, to using sewing gauges and assessing tension in a sewing machine, learners will leave feeling far more confident in both their sewing abilities and their maths skills.
Over four weeks, learners will learn how to set up a sewing machine and calculating the correct tension for the thread thickness, how to hem trousers and sleeves, measuring buttonholes to fix buttons and how to create a tote shopping bag using the skills they have learnt.
