Course Description

This course is available at community locations in Rhos-on-Sea and Prestatyn.

The course helps students develop the skills needed to work in a primary classroom. Learners will spend 2 days per week learning in a community venue, and 1 additional day per week of work experience. Tutors will help students arrange their placements. Hours are child-friendly, totalling less than 16 hours per week.

The course is free, but students must complete a DBS check with the College which (currently) costs £44.

Delivery

The course is delivered through a blend of the following:

  • Lectures
  • Presentations
  • Group work
  • Classroom-based learning

You will spend 2 days per week in the classroom: 9.30am–2.30pm.

You will also have a work placement in a school for 1 day a week, 5 hours per week, at times to suit the school.

Assessment

You will be assessed by portfolio.

  • CACHE Classroom Assistants Level 2 (Certificate for Supporting Teaching and Learning in School)
