Short Course

Course Description

This course includes both Initial verification (certification) and periodic inspection (reporting). The qualification is a route to attaining JIB Approved Electrician status and towards the IET EAS scheme requirements for ECA / NICEIC / NAIPIT Qualified Supervisor registration.

Entry Criteria

1. REQUIRED 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations award (e.g. C&G 2380 series or EAL 603/3298/0) and

2. REQUIRED NVQ Level 3 electrotechnical or equivalent (Historic awards such as C&G 236 Part 2 or “B” Certificate)

You will need copies of the IET Wiring Regulations Eighteenth Edition, published by the Institute of Engineering and Technology (Brown Book) and IET Guidance Note 3 Inspection and Testing (BS 7671:2018+A2@2022)

Combination of theory lectures demonstration of test approaches and self-study

Assessment

Practical Assessment: 3.5 hours

Assessment Type: Multiple Choice

Number of Questions: 60

Time Allowed: 120 Minutes The pass mark is notionally set at 60%.

This is an open book exam requiring reference to Guidance Note 3: Inspection and Testing, published by the Institute of Engineering and Technology.

Candidates may also use a non-programmable calculator
