Course Description

Administrators need a broad range of skills to work efficiently and to help increase business productivity.

The course is suitable if you are starting administrative work, wanting to develop your skills, or changing your career path. If you already have office experience, then this course will enhance your knowledge and skills and give you a useful qualification.

During the course you will cover a large range of topics, giving you comprehensive skills and knowledge in all aspects of administrative work.

This apprenticeship uses employer-led, up-to-date, flexible qualifications which meet the changing skills needs of employers. It builds in softer-skills such as communication, team-working, interpersonal skills and the ability to reflect on their learning.

You will be able to develop your work skills and employability, as well as gaining a recognised Level 2 qualification.

Practical experience is provided on the course for using office equipment.

Subjects include business administration skills, essential IT skills, text processing, experiencing working life and creating/producing business documents.

Level 2 foundation apprentices may work in roles such as administrators, office juniors, receptionists/medical receptionists, junior legal secretaries or junior medical secretaries.

Entry Criteria

  • No formal qualifications are required, but experience in Business Administration is desirable.
  • Apprentices must have an employer who can cover the NVQ criteria.

All places are subject to satisfactory interview.

Delivery

  • The majority of the training is provided in the workplace
  • Attendance of college-based sessions to complete theory tasks and tests may be required

Assessment

  • Completion of a portfolio of evidence
  • Work-based observations
  • Theory-based tasks and tests

Progression

From Foundation Apprenticeship Level 2 to an Apprenticeship Level 3 and Higher Apprenticeship Level 4.
