Course Description

This is a professional qualification for those who wish to pursue a career as a Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA). Once qualified, DEAs register with an Accreditation Scheme which accredits them to produce Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) for individual existing homes (not newly built). This is in accordance with legislation implementing the EU Directive on the Energy Performance of Buildings.

In this five-day classroom course, you'll acquire the skills needed to assess domestic dwellings and generate accurate Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) for residential properties. EPCs are legally mandated for property sales or rentals, as well as for certain ECO-funded and renewable heating installations under the BUS scheme.

The course, including practical EPC surveys using approved software, ensures hands-on learning. Candidates complete a portfolio of coursework during the course, which is a requirement for qualification.

No specific qualifications or experience are required to become a DEA.

An interest in construction and good maths skills can help, but aren't essential.
