Course Description

The Disinfection of Water Systems course is aimed at individuals who wish to physically disinfect hot and cold water systems.

It explains the properties of water, with particular focus on how to prevent the development of the harmful legionella pneumopjila bacteria, which causes Legionnaires’ disease.

The course explains in detail how a water system should be disinfected and also lists the chemicals that are used in this process and in doing so providing a practical demonstration of how to disinfect a water system correctly.

Delivery

The course is essentially made up of 2 separately available modules/qualifications delivered over 2 individual days, namely:

  • Module 1: The Risk Assessment of Domestic Cold and Hot Water Systems
  • Module 2: The Disinfection of Water Systems

Assessment

The assessments are designed to ensure that all candidates are treated fairly and equally throughout the country. This approach ensures that both employers and customers can be confident that an operative assessed at a BPEC Certification Ltd approved assessment centre will be able to operate both safely and competently.
