Course Description
The Introduction to Net Zero course gives a succinct overview of what “net zero” means as a response to the climate crisis, and how it can be delivered within organisations. It is ideal for raising awareness quickly across staff who need basic understanding.
It is designed around four parts:
What does net zero mean?
Why net zero?
What can my organisation do about it?
How to communicate net zero in a way which avoids greenwash.
- Learning outcomes include:
• Understanding what “net zero” and related terms mean.
• The urgency of the underlying climate science driving the net zero agenda.
• Main international policy context and UK policy drivers.
• Understanding business and environmental benefits of net zero; outline of robust net zero approaches.
• Understanding how to communicate net zero in a way that avoids greenwash.
- Duration is short — it is ideal for raising awareness quickly across staff who need basic understanding.
- The course is ISEP certified
Entry Criteria
There are no formal entry requirements.
The course is suited to people in all job roles and sectors, especially those looking for a baseline understanding of net zero and those working in organisations beginning their net zero journey.

- Classroom-based
Assessment
There is no formal assessment for this course.
Learners will receive a certificate (or equivalent proof of attendance/completion) on finishing the course.
Progression
After completing this course, learners may wish to proceed to more in-depth or advanced sustainability/net zero qualifications.
Options include courses like ISEP Pathways to Net Zero or the Foundation Certificate in Sustainability & Environmental Management.
