Kyle and Nathan to compete in national wallpapering contest
The Painting and Decorating apprentices are heading to Doncaster to test their skills against the best from across the UK
TWO Grŵp Llandrillo Menai learners are competing in the Apprentice Paperhanger of the Year competition in Doncaster next Tuesday (June 24).
Kyle Williams and Nathan Evans will test their wallpapering skills against apprentices from across the UK in the Painting and Decorating Association (PDA) competition.
Both are following Level 3 Painting and Decorating apprenticeships through Busnes@LlandrilloMenai, studying one day a week at Coleg Llandrillo’s Rhos-on-Sea campus.
Kyle works for Curtis Painting Group Ltd while Nathan is employed by BW Builders and Decorators.
In Doncaster next week, they will each face a six-hour wallpapering challenge for the chance to win prizes supplied by competition sponsor Brewers Decorator Centres.
Winners and runners-up will be invited to receive their awards as part of the PDA’s national networking event and gala dinner.
Kyle also recently competed in the Welsh heat of the PDA’s painting and decorating Apprentice of the Year competition, which was held at Coleg Llandrillo’s Rhos-on-Sea campus.
He described the competition as “good experience”, while Nathan said he was enjoying his apprenticeship as “no two days are the same”.
