Apprenticeship staff Earn Glowing Praise from Estyn
Expert staff from across North Wales have been commended in a recent Estyn inspection report on work-based apprenticeship provision offered by the region’s leading apprenticeship provider.
The Grŵp Llandrillo Menai Consortium, which has around 2,800 apprentices and work-based learners, includes Grŵp Llandrillo Menai, Arfon Dwyfor Training, and North Wales Training, along with specialist partners including Achieve More Training, North Wales Fire Service, Tempdent and Sgil Cymru.
The report highlights the exceptional achievements, dedication and progress of apprentices; firmly establishing the consortium as a trailblazer in the education sector.

Estyn praised the strong relationships cultivated between apprentices and their tutors and assessors, saying that staff “are well qualified in their specialist areas and keep their knowledge and skills up-to-date. They are highly supportive of their learners and use their own experience well to develop learners’ vocational skills and understanding”.
Their collaboration with employers was also noted as a unique strength in the report, saying that “the consortium plans its programme delivery well to serve the needs of the region. The lead provider works well with partners and subcontractors to ensure a comprehensive offer that reflects regional skills priorities along with the needs of local employers across a large geographical area”.
Louise Baxter, Advice & Guidance Training Advisor at North Wales Training, added,
“It was a positive and insightful experience to be part of the recent Estyn inspection. I’m pleased that the report has highlighted the quality of support we provide to learners, the flexibility of our approach and our work and engagement with employers and businesses across North Wales”.
Staff are also praised by Estyn for “working flexibly to accommodate learners’ home and work circumstances”, and “regularly checking on their [students’] well-being in a way that is meaningful to each individual learner”.
