Course Description
Are you looking to develop advanced skills in food and beverage service? Would you like a supervisory role in the diverse catering and hospitality sector?
Whether you are coming from professional experience or from education, this vocational programme is an ideal way forward. The course has been designed to enhance your craft and supervisory skills in food and beverage service. It gives you the qualification and expertise to work in a wide variety of contexts.
In addition to your main qualification Level 3 Diploma in Food and Beverage Service Supervision you will also have the opportunity to gain industry recognised qualifications i.e. Allergen Awareness, COSHH, Healthy Foods and Special Diets; Manual Handling. Essential Skills or GCSEs (depending on your current grade) will also be an integral part of the course.
Entry Criteria
In order to qualify for this course, you will need at least one of the following:
- A relevant Level 2 qualification at Pass
- Relevant industry experience
You will also require an attendance level of 86% in your previous year of study.
As part of the application process, you will be asked to attend an interview to give you the opportunity to discuss the course.

- Theory sessions
- Working in a realistic working environment
Your programme will include a combination of:
- Essential Skills qualifications and/or
- GCSE resits and/or
- The Welsh Baccalaureate
Welsh Baccalaureate
Welsh Baccalaureate is a valuable qualification which is often studied alongside your Level 3 full-time course.
The qualification is graded A*-E, carrying the equivalent UCAS points at Level 3, and equips you with transferable personal and business skills. It is highly regarded by universities and employers alike.
As part of the qualification, you will learn about Global Citizenship, Enterprise and Employability and take part in community engagement and work experience.
Essential Skills
This may include a combination of Application of Number, Communication, Digital Literacy and Essential Employability Skills
GCSE resits
This may include GCSE Numeracy/Maths and/or Welsh/English Language.
Maths & Welsh/English
If you don't achieve a C or above in Maths and/ or English/Welsh, we will support you to retake these subjects as part of your study programme.

Progression
Completion of this course gives you numerous options in education and employment. You may choose to apply for a range of Higher Education courses, in hospitality or in culinary practice.
You could proceed onto a number of programmes at Grŵp Llandrillo Menai, including:
- Foundation Degree (FdA) Culinary Arts
- BA (Hons) Hospitality Management
If you progress directly into employment, your advanced craft skills will allow you to work in a number of roles. Supervisory or specialist positions in food and beverage service can be found in many contexts, including hotels, restaurants, themed and gastro pubs, conference centres, exhibition facilities, corporate and sports centres, catering businesses and other organisations.
If you already have professional experience, the course adds to your employability and allows you to re-enter the industry with enhanced opportunities.
