CIPD Level 5 Diploma in Human Resource Practice (Remote/Online tutor led course)

Professional

Course Description

The Diploma in Human Resource Practice is a new qualification released by The Chartered Institute of Personnel Development, which you can choose to study at either our Bangor or Rhos-on-sea campus, or at the Management Centre in Bangor University.

It is aimed at professionals who want to, or are already in a management position within HR.

The course focuses on developing individual HR skills in contemporary human resource related subjects. Emphasis will be on how HR management links with organisational strategy and its integration with line management.

Studying a CIPD qualification at intermediate level will provide you with the knowledge required for new Associate professional level of CIPD membership. If you then have the relevant experience, you can apply for a membership assessment (assessing your workplace activities and behaviours).

If successful with the assessment, you’ll be upgraded to new Associate. In addition to the formal qualification, you will have gained an insight into the competencies and skills that are necessary to become a modern HR manager.

You will also have gained invaluable experience from others who have been on the course with you.

You will study the following subjects throughout the year. Each subject involves lots of classroom discussion and interaction amongst students. All modules are taught by experienced staff that have extensive, operational knowledge in their field.

  • Developing Professional Practice
  • Business Issues and the Context of Human Resources
  • Using Information in Human Resources
  • Managing and Coordinating the Human Resource Function
  • Resourcing and Talent Planning
  • Reward Management
  • Employment Law
  • Meeting Organisational Development Needs
  • Developing Coaching and Mentoring within Organisations

The next intake for this course will be in February 2022.

Entry Criteria

It is preferable to have already achieved a Certificate level qualification from the CIPD or presently be in a HR role to enrol on this course. However, all applications will be considered on merit by the course leader. A formal interview will be required for all applicants prior to joining.

You will also be required to be in CIPD membership for the duration of the course. It is possible that membership is required for a second year. The current membership cost per year is £165 (subject to change by CIPD). This will be in addition to your course fees.

You will also be required to buy several core textbooks. Other recommended reading lists will be circulated during the course.

It will be necessary to confirm basic skill requirements and to confirm that all students are able to meet the assessment requirements of the course. Grŵp Llandrillo Menai recognises that some students may not have studied for some time, and as such, are able to support new students on an individual basis.

Delivery

The delivery of the Diploma in Human Resource Management will combine a wide range of learning methods. As well as taught classroom work, there will be an additional four ‘Skills Days’ that will allow what you have learnt in the classroom to be applied to real life scenarios, as well as developing your own leadership and management skills.

Assessment

Each module is assessed through assignment work. There will also be at least one examination set by the CIPD.

Progression

Further professional study could include the CIPD Advanced Diploma in Human Resource Management at Grŵp Llandrillo Menai.
