Coleg Menai artists shine at National Eisteddfod’s Y Lle Celf
Two former students and a Coleg Menai Art Technician selected for Wales’ premier visual arts gallery, with Cushla Rose Luxton securing the New Artist Scholarship.
Cushla Rose Luxton, Barnaby Prendergast and Coleg Menai Art Technician Gwyn Williams were all chosen to exhibit their work at the National Gallery, Y Lle Celf, at this year’s National Eisteddfod.
300 people entered for a chance to exhibit and 39 got through to the final.
Former Coleg Menai Art and Design student Cushla, aged 21, was named as the winner of the New Artist Scholarship 2026 in Eisteddfod Y Garreg Las. She said: “I am blown away by the response to me and my work and so grateful for the privilege of exhibiting in the National Eisteddfod gallery.”
Former Coleg Menai and Glynllifon student Barnaby Prendergast won the 2025 National Eisteddfod Dewi Bowen New Artist Scholarship and was offered the chance to exhibit his work in Y Lle Celf at this year’s National Eisteddfod.
Barnaby, aged 23, studied Level 3 Forestry and Arboriculture at Glynllifon, before moving on to the Art Foundation course at Coleg Menai in Bangor.
