Grŵp Llandrillo Menai staff raise almost £8,000 for charity during the Grŵp’s annual volunteering day
From mountain miles to food bank aisles, thousands of staff stepped up across North Wales to support a variety of local and national charities, including Wales Air Ambulance.
On 26 June, staff from across Grŵp Llandrillo Menai campuses laced up their walking boots, got on their bikes, dusted off their golf clubs, armed themselves with litter picks, or headed to food banks and other community venues to volunteer their time. Raising much needed funds for local and national charities, including the Grŵp’s chosen charity this year: Wales Air Ambulance.
Thousands of staff turned out to brave the heatwave and take part in a huge variety of challenges, raising a fantastic almost £8,000.
In Llandudno, locals may have spotted a Programme Area Manager for Engineering & Motor Vehicle, Tim Peel and his colleagues from Coleg Llandrillo picking up litter on the Great Orme Toll Road. There was also a Charity Golf Day in Rhos-on-Sea, with competitions like the closest to the pin and the straightest drive.
On Anglesey, Coleg Menai staff gave up their time to help out at the Holyhead Foodbank warehouse.
Plus, anyone out for a walk in Eryri National Park might have come across colleagues from Coleg Meiron-Dwyfor cycling the 75-mile long Brailsford Way.
Also part of the Grŵp’s volunteering efforts this year, a team of colleagues organised and took part in the GLLM Coast-to-Care Relay over the 2nd and 3rd of July. They’ve raised an incredible amount of £6,575.70 so far for Alder Hey Children’s Charity and Awyr Las.
