Busnes@LlandrilloMenai Assessor Tony Fitzmaurice Honoured at the Welsh Veterans Awards 2026
Work Based Learning Assessor Tony Fitzmaurice has been recognised for his dedication and leadership, taking home a Bronze award in the Role Model of the Year category at the Welsh Veterans Awards.
The annual ceremony, held on Wednesday, 8 July at the 4* Vale Resort in Pontyclun, celebrates Armed Forces veterans who have made outstanding contributions to their communities and workplaces after transitioning from military to civilian life.
Tony was nominated by his friend and serving Army officer, Major Rachel Gibbs, with supporting testimonials provided by his colleagues at Grŵp Llandrillo Menai.
As a proud veteran himself, Tony has been instrumental in championing the Armed Forces within the organisation, including encouraging the Grŵp to sign up for and join the Armed Forces Covenant.
Speaking about the award, Tony shared his gratitude and reflected on the significance of the evening:
"Being a veteran is very important to me and something I’m very proud of... Being recognised and nominated was special and humbling. However, being in the room at the awards and hearing stories about what fellow veterans are doing and have done made me realise I could and should do more.
"It was a truly inspiring evening that really showcased the importance of veterans in workplaces and in the community—a proper celebration of the best of the military veterans in the country. I am proud to represent Welsh veterans and the Grŵp, and fully intend to keep working hard."
The Welsh Veterans Awards highlight the valuable skills, resilience, and inspiration that former service personnel bring to civilian organizations, with role models like Tony leading the way for future service leavers.
