New Student Union Presidents elected for 2026/27
Cai Osian Jones, Chloe Chant, Sian Williams and Karla Rix will work to enrich the college experience and ensure learners have a voice.
Grŵp Llandrillo Menai’s new Student Union Presidents for the 2026/27 academic year have been elected.
The newly elected presidents are Cai Osian Jones (Coleg Llandrillo), Chloe Chant (Coleg Menai), Sian Williams (Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor) and Karla Rix (Higher Education).
They will give students a voice across the Grŵp’s campuses, and will work to enrich the college experience.
Here’s what they had to say about being elected to represent their fellow learners:
Cai Osian Jones (Coleg Llandrillo)
Osian is in the second year of his Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering at the Rhyl campus.
He pledged to continue promoting the Welsh Language across the college, and making sure that every student feels supported, listened to and represented.
Cai said: “I also want to improve access to mental and physical wellbeing support and create more opportunities for students to get involved in clubs and activities across both campuses. This could be sports like rugby or playing chess, helping students feel more connected and enjoy their time at college.”
Chloe Chant (Coleg Menai)
Chloe is studying Level 2 Health and Social Care at the Llangefni campus. She pledged to ensure learners feel supported, motivated and respected. Chloe wants to help her community and peers do the best they can and get the right support.
“I don’t want anyone to feel shunned or feel out of place,” said Chloe.
“It is a core belief of mine that everyone is treated equally but not the same, as everyone has different needs. And I want to meet those needs.”
Sian Williams (Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor)
Sian studies AS English Literature and Language, History, and Law at the Pwullheli campus.
Sian pledged to work on providing more communal areas, to allow people to get to know each other, and prioritise breaks to reduce exam stress. Sian wants to improve the college experience for all learners.
She said: “My main focus is on community, as it is the heart of everything and key to making connections and friends, which is such a vital part of not just life but also a form of maintaining good mental health.”
Karla Rix (Grŵp Llandrillo Menai Higher Education)
Karla is in the final year of her BA (Hons) Degree in Health, Wellbeing and Social Care Leadership at the Rhos-on-Sea campus.
Karla pledged to focus on strengthening student engagement, wellbeing, and employability, ensuring learners feel heard, valued, and supported throughout their education. Karla wants to help create an outstanding learning experience that prepares students for further study, employment, and lifelong success.
She said: “I am passionate about enhancing the learner experience by creating an inclusive, supportive, and engaging educational environment where every student can achieve their full potential.”
Grŵp Llandrillo Menai’s Student Enrichment Officer Aaron Beacher said:
“I would like to congratulate Cai, Chloe, Sian and Karla on their success in obtaining their posts for the 2026/2027 academic year.
“I would also like to thank all the applicants who put themselves forward for these roles. Those candidates who were not successful this time are encouraged to participate in voluntary roles within the Student Union to support the presidents, where they will be a great asset.
“Grŵp Llandrillo Menai is also recruiting class representatives, who are a vital part of the organisation. Class representatives communicate directly with the Student Union team and attend Learner Voice Panels to ensure learners contribute positively to the ongoing development of their course, campus and overall college experience.”
