Coleg Llandrillo Sports Students Score Big With Urdd Volunteering
Level 3 Sports students from Coleg Llandrillo recently gave up their time to volunteer at two Urdd events at Eirias Park in Colwyn Bay.
The 20 students helped out with refereeing for the Urdd 5-aside Football tournament for secondary schools across the region earlier this month. The atmosphere was buzzing with energy and a great day was had by all!
The following day, the sun was shining and the students were back to help support primary children with additional needs at the Urdd Disability Rugby tournament. At the Eirias Stadium, this event gives children from North Wales a chance to experience competing against other schools in a safe and inclusive and supportive environment.
The Coleg Llandrillo students were on hand to ensure all of the children could join in, supporting them to pick up some new rugby skills in the morning and then put them into practice after lunch in the tournament.
Welsh Rugby Union Inclusion Manager, Dave Roberts, praised the students’ hard work: “They have been brilliant today and really added value to the event.”
These events are all about participation, gaining confidence and having fun on the pitch. They highlight the importance of grassroots and disability sports in our communities. A
A huge well done to all the volunteers who helped make them happen!
