Tammi’s story: From school to college with confidence
For many students, the step up to college can feel daunting. That’s exactly how Tammi felt before joining us. Tammi initially attended college one day a week on a link course while studying at Ysgol Y Gogarth and was helped by Coleg Llandrillo Learning Support Coordinator, Amanda. This September, she is taking the leap to join us full-time to study Media.
"I was quite nervous about starting college as I didn't know what to expect," Tammi shares. "The link course helped me understand what will happen in September. Amanda came to my annual review and chatted with me and my mum about what to expect."
To help ease her nerves, Amanda supported Tammi throughout her course interview and gave her and her mum a personalized tour of the campus.
"Amanda showed us where the study centre was and where my classroom was," Tammi says. "The staff at my school helped me to feel more ready for college, and the staff at college helped me feel ready to come to college full-time."
Today, Tammi feels ready to take on this next big chapter:
"The link course has helped me feel more independent and ready to go to college on my own for when I leave school. It has helped me a lot because it helped me feel more confident about starting in September. I'm looking forward to meeting my new friends and tutors!"
